VISUAL Diary
An attempt to subvert social media and stay in touch with those around me. Remember when Instagram was for sharing photos?

Lava

This is a bit of a throwback. I was asked to take part in a feature in LFI and they chose this photograph from the volcano erupting here in Iceland back in 2021. See the feature here:

“The Fagradalsfjall volcano on Iceland’s Reykjanes Peninsula erupted when I was out of the country for professional reasons. When I got home, the lava on the surface had already begun to harden, while underneath it was still red-hot. The image of the underground lava flow reminds me that there’s always something new to discover in the world, and how nature was like an anchor for me during the Covid pandemic.”

This photo is the culmination of so many wonderful aspects of life: making great friends, coupling with the most amazing woman, landing at an incredible home in the woods at the end of vacation, and making sure to enjoy every drop of life. Being in a place in which knowing that every day is a gift is a special thing — something I hope to never take for granted.
