The first portrait in a series I will be posting here over the coming weeks. I’m newly done with a film and excited to get back to sharing some work!

Going for range. Flash fill to make it possible. Did I miss the focus, or is it the perfect mistake?

The face of a child that knows more about being a good person and how to be a better human than 99% of adult males in our society.

RUNE SECHER PETERSEN “LAST NATION”
This is a piece from a commission I received to photograph the BA students projects for Listháskóli Íslands in 2020. The student had a table set up with materials and items of inspiration for this model, and I was completely in awe of it. The shape, the textures, it all connected with me in an impactful way. I tried to photograph it to erase scale and show it as big as I could.

Scoot Scoot
On a rare dry photo walk last (the rain/snow/hail has arrived) I spotted these three competitors lined up so perfectly in front of a papered-over window of an empty storefront. Iceland is such a strange place some times. There are four competing companies in this scooter market while there isn’t a single store that sells clothing for adult males that is able to stay open for business without a 3-4x mark up on clothes.

Ellý
The band from the show Ellý posing on the stage just before they were to go on. The thing I’m trying to wrap my head around two years later is how I got away with such a slow shutter speed while still maintaining the crispness I want with when I’m shooting with my flash. Somehow someway. And I guess now I’ll have to experiment and see if I can’t recreate that.

Harvest
Although some of these are not the kind that you’d want to eat, nor the kind that will help you release some stress, the beauty of this bounty is all nature’s pleasure. Walking in the forest all weekend with the family, connecting to the trees and moss and the like, these souvenirs are just a nice memory of a weekend that felt so good.
The Princess is Seven

I have a seven year old daughter and she’s pretty amazing. As such, we had an incredible birthday party for her and spent the whole day making her life as perfect as possible. I spent the morning experimenting with a gel and my flash, trying to create some cool looks by placing the gel directly in front of the flash so that the light it cast would be different colours depending on where it went through the gel.

Out on a photo walk and encountering scenes that you don’t really expect in the middle of downtown Reykjavík. I have my flash permanently attached these days, for the flash fill it creates and the highlights it can bring to shadows during the day.
