An attempt to subvert social media and stay in touch with those around me. Remember when Instagram was for sharing photos?

Fort Pitt Tunnel

I had always heard about this tunnel entrance to Pittsburgh; so much that the experience of driving through it had almost become mythical. To experience the moment when you drive through the tunnel and then come up onto this really cool city feels like you are being launched out into this new world, a city that has a lot of character and really great people. I had to get an image of it and it just so happened that you go right by it on the way to the funicular incline.

Framtiðin

The smiles of the future generation are enough to solve the problems of any man's life. Maudlin or not, that's the reality of my life. I am never as happy as I am when my wife and daughter are hanging out with me and getting into new adventures together. The truest form of happiness is enjoying someone's company. The real antonym of lonliness is happiness.

The Conformist

Flashy car in front of a flashy house in Iceland. I find it hard not to want to burn it all down knowing that so much of the world would be in a better place if people didn't spend [their] money on such frivolity. But then, Porsche has been developing some of the most important technology for the advancement of road safety and their electric vehicle program is massively important to the future and getting rid of our oil dependency. What do you do? Sit back and take in the beauty, right? We are all rich in our own ways and the reality is that stressing out about what it all could be is not going to solve any problems for me. Still, a match, some gasoline, and poof, this man's fortune would be greater. After all, the owner of these wealth obscenities also runs the biggest insurance company in Iceland.

Helix

Taken in October last year, this photo is from a building in Reykjavik called Perlan. The building is made of five water tanks that have been linked by glass walls and have a restaurant and café at the top. It's a fun and gimmicky place to go, a bit like a less cool Griffith Observatory. This is one of my favorite compositions of random items to make something that looks like something else. It always reminds me of DNA.

The Pool

I took four shots of this stranger all from different angles trying to see what would be the most dynamic. The one you see here is taken without me looking through the viewfinder, hanging the camera from my neck strap. The hardest problem with this technique is making sure that the angle is straight. In this photograph you can notice that it is slightly askew from right to left. This is easy enough to fix in post, but little imperfections like that are also what make photos more dynamic in my opinion.
