Teitur
Teitur has a new album out, “33” that promises to be on heavy rotation like his last two, which were both spectacular. Give it a listen. (But don’t use Spotify.)

Steinþór Helgi
I wanted a portrait of Steinþór in this moment that matched the quality of the man. We had just spent a weekend in Istanbul on his invitation and the capper was renting this cruise on the Bosphorus to listen to music and see the sights. What a legend.

Low winter sun always makes for a small window to catch some great moments in the cold months. As always, keep your camera close and you will be rewarded.

If you pay attention to my work, if you’re at all someone who follows me closely, you’ll notice the addition of some flares to the light sources in the photographs that I have been taking lately. That’s because I am using a new lens filter that I recently purchased. Back when I was shooting on my original SLR camera, I had bought the same type of filter and had always wanted to incorporate it again into my digital work.

I am as fascinated by the machines I was fascinated with as a child equally at 36 as I was at 3. At least I can find a way to share them with the world. It’s the same machines that now appear and create an uneasiness in my stomach; the feeling of ‘what is being built now,’ and when is enough, enough?
“Instead of saying that everyone – i.e. every one – is responsible for climate change, we all have to do our bit, it would be better to say that no-one is, and that’s the very problem. The cause of eco-catastrophe is an impersonal structure which, even though it is capable of producing all manner of effects, is precisely not a subject capable of exercising responsibility. The required subject – a collective subject - does not exist, yet the crisis, like all the other global crises we’re now facing, demands that it be constructed.” - Mark Fisher
Fisher addresses capitalism most in his writing and his understanding of the end of capitalism is better than just about anyone I’ve encountered. The concept that machines can cause uneasiness in me, a fear of what are we doing in this space, and why are we doing it is coming more and more these days. The book “How to Blow up a Pipeline” by Andreas Malm addresses our responsibility for destroying these machines and the mechanisms of production that are accelerating our extinction. More from that later.

“Protest is when I say I don't like this. Resistance is when I put an end to what I don't like. Protest is when I say I refuse to go along with this anymore. Resistance is when I make sure everybody else stops going along too.” ―Ulrike Meinhof

Vetrarþoka // Winter Fog
On my way home from a short gig, I saw the fog had not lifted in the swamplands near the airport in central Reykjavík so I stopped and took a short walk to find some things to capture in the dreamlike state I was in. Rather proud of the results from the day, they came out looking as well as I had hoped.

The Getaway
I have a few photos that fall into the category of humour, and this is one that I think tells a great story. In an age of a trillion photographs, does the adage still hold up? 1000 words, or something?

Buxur
In the last year plus worth of time, there have been moments when things just feel like they were maybe five to ten years ago, objectively normal moments. This past summer a group of incredible people came together to throw a rave and dance all day and all night. Everything was special leading up to it until they started posting “No Cameras” in the channels. What was I going to do? Obviously, I’m bringing my camera and taking as many discreet photos as I can. Luckily, the host of the party grabbed me and asked if I brought my camera because he really wanted to get some photos and gave me a pass to shoot as many as I wanted. Lesson learned, as always, never leave without my camera and never back down when it comes to what you do and love. It is in your blood and will remain the most important thing to do until the end.

A new human life has has begun! We are overjoyed to say the least. He arrived early yesterday morning in the comfort of our living room; with candles lit and music playing as he began his journey in this mortal world. What the future holds for him, only time can say. But what we can say is that we will make sure that he is taken after and brought up as best as humanly possible. His whole family is looking forward to showing him the path to happiness and teaching all the lessons on how to be a good human on this rock floating through space.

Ocean Beach
Going way back into the archives for this one, a photo dear to my heart as it was one that got me holding onto my camera again, carrying it with me as much as I could and trying to take more photographs as I went through my life. Just a random moment, catching a kid running down a sand dune on a beautiful day in San Francisco.

Gleðileg Jólasýningin
From last year’s show at Ásmundarsalur in Reykjavík, when the walls of the gallery are adorned with the artwork of countless artists (as long as they meet the criteria of being worthy by the curators). The show will happen again this year and it will be interesting to see how it goes down.

Darri
Walking to the pool last Friday, we came upon Darri leaving the store in this wonderful sweater by Prins Polo. It worked so well with the light and the way the store is designed that I asked him for a portrait. Really happy I did, this is an instant favourite.

RUNE SECHER PETERSEN “LAST NATION”
This is a piece from a commission I received to photograph the BA students projects for Listháskóli Íslands in 2020. The student had a table set up with materials and items of inspiration for this model, and I was completely in awe of it. The shape, the textures, it all connected with me in an impactful way. I tried to photograph it to erase scale and show it as big as I could.
